K-Pop's Digital 'Army' Musters To Meet The Moment, Baggage In Tow

K-Pop's Digital 'Army' Musters To Meet The Moment, Baggage In Tow A week before President Trump held his controversial campaign rally in Tulsa, Okla., was when Viviana Dark, a K-pop fan from Wisconsin (who has requested pseudonymity over concerns of online harassment), first heard of plans to "sabotage" the event.

"The main point of why we were fighting was for the Black Lives Matter cause, not to get recognized [as K-pop fans]."

Ironically, for a music industry seen as heralding diversity politics, with millions of POC fans worldwide, K-pop creators still face constant accusations of cultural appropriation and racism, particularly against Black people.

That's why, for Dark, some K-pop fans jumping in online to support the Black Lives Matter movement feels hollow.

Meanwhile, many K-pop artists have spoken out on Black Lives Matter — a rare sight, since unlike many of their fans, most artists refrain from making political statements in public.

Watch Party Royale: Fortnite will stream 3 Christopher Nolan movies in-game this Friday

The “watch party” craze has come to Fortnite, with the wildly popular battle royale game slated to host a trio of classic Chrisopher Nolan movies this Friday—and yes, you’ll be able to watch for free.

Inception, Batman Begins, and The Prestige are the three Nolan flicks that will be streaming at Party Royale, Fortnite’s new non-violent social space.

The news of the free Nolan screenings comes about a month Party Royale played host to the trailer for Tenet, Nolan’s latest mind-bending opus.

Of course, Fortnite adds a whole different dimension to the watch party phenomenon, allowing friends and strangers alike to watch movies while their avatars do the floss and perform other Fortnite emotes.

Besides the upcoming Nolan movies, Fortnite has also been putting on live events, with DJ Diplo slated to perform on Party Royale this Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.

Hosting The GI Show was an amazing experience, but also my first time.

We continue to do this show from our homes as we hunker down in quarantine, so please forgive us for any audio or video hiccups as we deliver content outside the studio.

Later, we briefly touch upon the Cyberpunk 2077 delay, predict what we think next week's Pokémon event will reveal, and wrap the show with the return of Community Emails.

On this week's episode of The Game Informer Show, we dissect the entirety of EA Play and let you know what we think of Star Wars: Squadrons, Lost in Random, and whether or not the publishing giant nailed its digital event.

The GI Show Will Release On Friday

In the void left by E3's cancellation, publishers have been branching off on their own and holding digital events to announce what's coming next.

EA is no different and is giving gamers a taste of its upcoming lineup Thursday night, and we want to assure you're as informed as possible on everything Star Wars, FIFA, and more!

Because of the late showing, we're pushing the release of this week's episode of The Game Informer Show to Friday in order to prepare our spicy takes for your listening or viewing pleasure.

As with last week's Sony event, if you can't wait to see our shining faces, we are doing another fun watch along stream with the GI community, and we'll react to everything EA announces.

Hulu Renews Crossing Swords and Polar Opposites for One More Season Each

The third season will be twelve episodes long.

The renewal for Solar Opposites is for a third season, as the show was originally picked up for a two-season run.

Both shows, premiering on Hulu this season, appear to have done well for themselves, a victory undoubtedly aided by being some of the only new TV on at this strange moment in time.

As announced in a recent press release, Hulu has opted to renew both of its new pottymouthed adult cartoons for a second season, that being Crossing Swords, its show about a hapless squire trying to save his beloved kingdom, and Solar Opposites, the newest show created by Justin Roiland, about four aliens living new lives on Earth.

No word on when the shows will be returning for their new seasons.

Detroit: Become Human, Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls are out now on Steam

For a bash at the full games, Detroit, Beyond and Heavy Rain can be found on Steam here, here and here respectively.

“If you’re keen to try a Quantic Dream game, I’d say Heavy Rain is still the one most worthy of playing if you can excuse some of the over-the-top elements of the story.

But it’s impossible to move beyond the fact that Detroit is a game about a marginalised worker class, painted in the art and songs and motifs of the civil rights movement, that absolutely, definitely isn’t about race – something director David Cage infamously asserted in an interview with Kotaku.

Detroit: Become Human, Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain hit Valve’s platform today – a trio of strange cinematic story-games about serial killers, Ellen Page’s invisible friend, and a robot emancipation movement that certainly holds no real-world analogue.

Trading years of PlayStation exclusivity for a PC debut locked on the Epic Games Store, three Quantic Dreams games finally found their way over to Steam.

All of the Best Moments From Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian

For the last eight weeks, Disney+ has been releasing new episodes of Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian, a behind the scenes documentary show about the making of, you guessed it, The Mandalorian.

George Lucas’ dismissal (Episode 8, “Connections”) - The finale of Disney Gallery is about all the winks and nods The Mandalorian makes to other Star Wars properties.

Pedro’s fandom (Episode 2, “Legacy”) - Almost all actors who join Star Wars admit to being Star Wars fans, but the Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, goes one step further and shares a story about having advanced tickets to see Return of the Jedi in a theater when he was growing up.

The wall of sound (Episode 7, “Score”) - Watching Ludwig Göransson explain all of the instruments he has and used to create the score for The Mandalorian is excellent, but there’s a moment in particular where he reveals he basically has a wall-sized unit designed to make sounds that feels like something out of Star Wars itself.

All episodes of Disney Gallery: Star Wars: The Mandalorian are now on Disney+.

Spotify is working with DC Comics and WB on new podcasts

In its latest attempt to become your go-to source for original podcasts, Spotify has announced a multiyear partnership with DC Comics and Warner Bros to produce new podcasts - or narrative audio series - starring DC Universe characters.

In addition, Spotify plans to draw upon Warner Bros' "broader collection of timeless titles" to produce even more standalone podcast shows.

Here's how Spotify described the deal: "Warner Bros Digital Networks will manage the business and strategy related to the partnership.

Warner Bros Television Group’s digital studio, Blue Ribbon Content, will oversee the creative relationship and will co-develop and produce the programming in collaboration with Spotify, which will be responsible for the marketing, advertising, and distribution of the shows exclusively on its platform."

Finally, Spotify said the partnership isn't limited to new narratives based on existing characters and franchises in the Warner Bros and DC portfolio; it also includes new programming from "original intellectual property".

The 2019 Razer Blade Stealth series was a huge mess. The 2020 series puts it back on track

In our reviews of the two different 2019 Blade Stealth SKUs last year, we didn't recommend either of them because the 2018 Core i7-8565U and GeForce MX150 would still outperform the 10 W Core i7-1065G7 and integrated Iris Plus G7 GPU, respectively.

The 10 W Core i7-1065G7 was disappointing to say the least as it would perform 15 percent slower than the Core i7-8565U in the older 2018 Blade Stealth.

Now that the 2020 Blade Stealth series is available, Razer has right this wrong by dropping the 10 W Core i7 CPU and having the 25 W version be standard on these latest configurations.

The 2019 Blade Stealth series was an unfortunate victim of this as these first Ice Lake SKUs from Razer would perform slower than the Whiskey Lake-U-powered 2018 Blade Stealth that came before it.

Our tables below comparing the 2018 Blade Stealth, 2019 Blade Stealth, and 2020 Blade Stealth show the 2020 version being comfortably ahead in key benchmarks like CineBench and 3DMark.

Yes, the birth certificate proves Elon Musk and Grimes' baby is legally named X AE A-XII

If there was any doubt left, billionaire Elon Musk and musician Grimes legally, actually, 100 percent named their child X AE A-XII.

"X" being the kid's first name, and "AE A-XII" their middle, and "Musk" their last.

X AE A-XII is actually a slight shift from what Musk first announced — he initially said the name was X Æ A-12 — because California doesn't allow special symbols or numbers in a legal name.

"First of all, my partner is the one who, mostly, actually came up with the name," Musk told Joe Rogan on the comedian's podcast last month.

"I mean it's just X, the letter X," Musk said.

3 Behind-The-Scenes Revelations From The 'Grief Counseling' Episode Of 'The Office

In a particularly heated rewrite session for the season-three episode 'Grief Counseling,' I was arguing with Greg so much, he finally said, in front of all twelve writers, 'If you're going to resist what I'm doing here, you can just go home, Mindy,'" Kaling said in a clip from her audio book, which was played on the podcast.

As fans of Mindy Kaling may already know, she and showrunner Greg Daniels had one of their biggest blowouts during "Grief Counseling."

After Michael learns that his former boss Ed Truck died by decapitation, he makes the office take part in grief counseling exercises.

On the latest episode of the Office Ladies podcast, former co-stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey reminisced about filming Season 3, Episode 4 of the show, "Grief Counseling," and revealed a bunch of behind-the-scenes tidbits from the episode.

"We decided hey, let's go to the source, let's ask Jen Celotta [writer of "Grief Counseling] was this story made up by Creed the character or was it truth in the scope of the show?"

The Witcher Season 2 Will Move Away from Multiple Timelines; All Characters Will be in the Same Timeline

Season 2 of Netflix’s The Witcher series will move away from multiple timelines, showrunner Lauren Schmidt has confirmed.

While insanely popular, the Witcher Season 1 could be quite confusing due to, at first, rather confusing timelines.

By the end of the first season, these timelines are aligned, and according to Schmidt, this will allow the team to play with time in different ways in the next season.

We get to do flashbacks, we get to do flash-forwards, we get to actually integrate time in a completely different way that we weren’t able to do in Season 1.

Because, if you can imagine, if we were in three different timelines (in Season 1) and then flashed forward or flashed back, we would have been in four or five or six timelines — even I know that’s too much.
