The original film didn’t spend so much time on Murphy, barely introducing him before sticking him in the RoboCop suit, and didn’t focus on the ethics of A.I. so much as making Murphy’s self-actualization a case of getting over memory loss.
Paul Verhoeven’s RoboCop, which premiered in 1987, painted a grim vision of the future.
An easy way to see how our predictions of the future have changed is to compare iterations of the same story told at different points in time.
Instead of revealing how our visions of the future have changed, the two RoboCop origin stories have more to say about how popular storytelling has changed.
More than two dozen games from the publisher’s back catalog were added over the summer, and then at the end of August, EA brought its Origin Access subscription service to the platform, too.
Today’s announcement said those who have been playing on Origin now “can easily switch back and forth with Steam,” meaning progression and item unlocks are shared by both platforms.
Steam players will get three free gun charm cosmetics, based on Valve’s Portal and Half-Life series.

Fisher had accused Snyder's replacement director Joss Wheadon, who had finished the 2017 Justice League, of creating an unprofessional atmosphere on the sets.
Leto's entry into the mix is only the freshest controversy surrounding Zack Snyder's Justice League that includes a super cast of Gal Gadot as Diana/ Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/ Batman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/ Superman, and Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/ Cyborg.
All this hullabaloo surrounding DC Comics characters — but also DC's top executives — will officially culminate in Zack Snyder's Justice League as Leto reportedly makes it to the sets.
Zack Snyder's replacement as director very late into the making of the 2017 Justice League was controversial, but not more than Jared Leto's snazzy Joker in Suicide Squad.
“So you can better understand how deep this goes: After speaking out about Justice League, I received a phone call from the President of DC Films wherein he attempted to throw Joss Whedon and Jon Berg under the bus in hopes that I would relent on Geoff Johns.
One of the more interesting titles that's confirmed as an Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S exclusive is Scorn, a crazy looking game from Ebb Software that combines a first person shooter with elements of horror, adventure, and survival games all rolled into one.
Now, you can watch a rather long gameplay trailer of Scorn to see what kind of game we're getting here, and the answer is complicated.
From the gameplay, which is running on an Xbox Series X, we can see that Scorn really does look marvelous, with incredible environmental details and models, and the sound design on display here is very impressive, to say the least.

Disclosure: NBCUniversal is the parent company of CNBC Correction: Meg Whitman is CEO of Quibi and was not a co-founder.
Whitman said the company has at least $350 million in cash, but expects there will be "much more" to return to shareholders following its wind down.
Quibi founder Jeffrey Katzenberg and CEO Meg Whitman told CNBC on Thursday that a convergence of factors led to the failure of the short-form entertainment service for mobile phones.
But the app debuted just weeks after the pandemic hit the U.S. and hampered travel, meaning people weren't commuting and turning to their phones for entertainment.
Quibi, which cost $4.99 per month, originally projected it would have more than 7 million subscribers after its first year, but it only had about 500,000 subscribers as of a few weeks ago, CNBC reported.
If you still intend on using your Xbox Series X or S as the hub for all your entertainment needs, an Xbox One Media Remote is a fantastic investment, with the best of them being none other than the PDP Talon Media Remote, by far the most superior option around, and at a surprisingly fantastic price.
As it turns out, both the Xbox Series X and S still have IR receivers, meaning they're still fully backwards compatible with the best Xbox One Media Remotes for easy and powerful media controls.
This makes the Xbox Series X and S amazing for gaming, but less capable as all-around entertainment centers.
The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are undoubtedly impressive next-gen gaming machines, but Microsoft's newfound focus on power and pure gaming led to some concessions in other areas, notably the omission of an IR receiver, and HDMI In and Optical ports.
Instead, we still get to enjoy the benefits of an IR receiver, as well as a cleaner and more attractive look for the Xbox Series X and S. However, the IR Blaster has been well and truly removed, meaning that you'll have to rely on HDMI-CEC to send signals from your Xbox to your TV.

Flamer, Mike Curato's first graphic novel, finds soon-to-be-high-schooler Aiden at Boy Scout camp, normally his safe place.
Mike Curato also illustrated Flamer, and it's his spread of Aiden, in black and white, cocooned in his sleeping bag, face hidden behind his hands, surrounded by red flames and a cacophony of self-hate, scribbled in blazing orange, that hit me like a punch in the stomach.
Aiden spends the majority of the book confused, tormented by his thoughts and feelings, desperate to deny that he is what his church tells him is wrong, and that the other boys back at St. Michaels and the other Scouts joke that he is.
There's no doubt that all those slurs and jokes, which slide off the other boys like water off a duck's back, hit Aiden where he is most sensitive.
Curato doesn't tell us how bad it was for Aiden at St. Michael's, but if there's one thing a lot of us know, it's just how bad middle school can be, no matter who you are.
If the company hits a slow period in subscriber growth while also dealing with myriad issues brought on by the pandemic, Netflix needs to find other ways to increase its income to continue spending the way the team does.
If production remains difficult to kick-start at the pace Netflix needs (although Netflix’s letter states things are getting a little better), and licensing shows from other networks becomes more difficult due to increased competition, Netflix may have to delay shows and films in order to maintain having new material that does land — like new seasons of The Crown, Stranger Things, The Witcher, and big movies on a regular basis.
“For our 2021 slate, we continue to expect the number of Netflix originals launched on our service to be up year over year in each quarter of 2021 and we’re confident that we’ll have an exciting range of programming for our members, particularly relative to other entertainment service options,” the letter to shareholders reads.
Cutting down on expensive shows that don’t bring in or keep subscribers is a good financial move, but it also cuts down on the number of originals that Netflix can offer down the road.
The streamer will probably still have more new original programming than its competitors, but with major streaming services like Disney Plus and HBO Max finding momentum, it feels like the first time Netflix has true competition in the streaming space.
The agreement includes integrations that will feature custom content segments, DraftKings' betting odds and daily fantasy statistics, original content, personalized automated alerts and editorial across the Turner Sports network.
“Regulated betting is quickly becoming a fixture of modern sports entertainment, and this collaboration with Turner Sports further scales the reach of our products and content to engage fans,” Ezra Kucharz, chief business officer at DraftKings, said in a statement.
The multiyear deal will see DraftKings provide sports-betting information and daily fantasy content across Turner Sports telecasts and Bleacher Report's digital channels as well as the B/R app.
The trade accounts for 0.6% of DraftKings’ total shares available for trading, according to Bloomberg.
DraftKings (DKNG) - Get Report fell Tuesday after the lockup from the online sports betting platform’s secondary offering in June ended.
Now the issue is nothing out of the ordinary, I have seen this become a problem a lot of the times in my career, and by now, I am used to seeing this.
Japan To Join Global Efforts To Regulate Apple, Google, Amazon, and Facebook Users Around the Internet are Reporting a Gap Between the Frame and the Display on Their Pixel 5 The reports have been coming from different sources ranging from Google's support forums as well as XDA Forums, and in the majority of cases, the app is appearing at the corner that houses the front-facing camera, however, it is not exclusive to that spot.
Some users have also reported that the gap is there the moment they take the devices out of the box, which is comforting because it can be resolved by sending the device back but if it appears afterwards, that could be a serious issue.
The same issue was reported by Android Police who noted this in their review, however, at the moment, it seems like the issue is not an isolated case, so the Pixel 5 users around the world might be experiencing this as well.
The Pixel 5 is no doubt an impressive device but this issue is something that might become a lot bigger if not handled properly.
While this is a solution that so far seems to work pretty well, it does mean that the Pixel 5 might be more particular about placement on a wireless charger than most phones.
This means that you can use the cable and wall charger that your Pixel 5 came with to power it, and simply unplug the pad and plug in your phone when you need a top-off faster than 15W wireless will provide.
Of the EPP wireless chargers on the market today, I'm especially fond of the Anker PowerWave Alloy because it supports Power Delivery input.
Wireless charging gets better with every generation of Pixel phones, and the Pixel 5 seems to have made things easier than ever by using the same 15W EPP (Extended Power Profile) Qi standard that other manufacturers like LG have been using for years.
These are the best Pixel 5 wireless chargers, including pads and stands.
“As a Victorian, I would like to see Melbourne hot spot suburbs put into lockdown as well,” Judd wrote on Instagram in July.
Judd has previously expressed support for Melbourne’s harsh lockdown and in July slammed a rule that allowed people who don’t have a garden but had tested positive for coronavirus to leave their homes to exercise.
People labelled Judd’s posts “embarrassing” given her lockdown circumstances had been far more favourable than others in Melbourne.
RELATED: Bec Judd’s JAGGAD gym shorts spark frenzy Yesterday Judd was labelled “insensitive” after wearing a “Free Melbourne” T-shirt in a series of Instagram story posts.
But last month Judd slammed “Dictator Dan” over the ongoing stage four lockdown in an Instagram story promoting a pair of children’s cubby houses from novelty store The Little Cardboard Co. “Perfect for iso and upcoming school holidays as it seems Dictator Dan will be locking Victorians in our homes even longer,” she wrote, with a rolling eyes emoji.
has kept track of the many live venues that have closed during the coronavirus pandemic.
Music venues, theaters, concerts, comedy clubs, dancehalls, and other venues have been shut for more than six months in the U.S.
Called “The Blind Pig,” the Biden spot features Joe Malcoun, co-owner of the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based music venue that the ad is named for, talking about his experience in 2020 so far.
It's a fitting accompaniment for an ad aimed at shining a light on the devastating impact the pandemic has had on live performance and the venues that's support them.
So, when a major U.S. presidential candidate wants to air a political campaign ad on television to highlight the struggles of the live entertainment business, it seems like the perfect opportunity for the Beastie Boys to break their streak and license a song for the cause.
"SNL" Made Fun Of Trump And Biden's Town Halls In Their Cold Open, So Here Are The Highlights It's just like the real thing!
As usual, the show kicked off with a political sketch, this time about Trump and Biden's respective town halls.
The cold open switched back and forth between ABC's town hall with Joe Biden and NBC's broadcast of Trump, which they described as a "Hallmark movie" vs. an "alien autopsy."
The show briefly addressed the backlash NBC has faced for running Trump's town hall at the same time as Biden's: And really set the tone for what the rest of the sketch would be like: The vibes switched up completely when the sketch returned to Biden, who was giving a soothing, albeit long-winded, response to an audience member: Of course, Paulette — the woman who made her move on Trump at his town hall despite planning to vote for Biden — made an appearance at Trump's town hall: Maya Rudolph surprised us with a Kamala Harris cameo, asking the question we all had about what the heck was going on there: Meanwhile, Savannah and Trump were brawling full-WWE style on NBC: And finally, we saw a contrastingly soothing Biden take on another childhood favorite, Bob Ross: Well, here's to seeing what wild things this week's final Presidential debate brings us on SNL.

Throughout The Voice of Sheila Chandra, Ali grabs fragments of stories to depict the ways we study our past, realize our survival, and move into the next sequence.
It is as though the window is the poem's fragmented form, and Ali is using his voice — his words — to tell us how so much that seems isolated is connected through time.
In the book's namesake poem, Ali writes, "And the body of the singer become / the body of the instrument / talk to the drum hum / Study its vowels she made her vow," telling us how Chandra once sang so freely and completely, her life moored to her tongue.
Throughout 'The Voice of Sheila Chandra,' Ali grabs fragments of stories to depict the ways we study our past, realize our survival, and move into the next sequence.
Creating an ingenious form on the page, Ali uses sound to give us a sort of research project that grapples with this crisis of survival over time.
The months following the death of Stan Lee, the creator of the Marvel Universe that Boseman played in, were also challenging because of a messy estate plan.
The actor, who continued to work even after being diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer in 2016, is far from the first celebrity to die without a will.
His widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, asked to be named an administrator of Boseman’s estate, according to TMZ, which obtained the probate documents.
Nearly two months after the death of actor Chadwick Boseman, star of films including “Black Panther” and “42,” his wife has filed documents in probate court, according to recent reports.
Boseman’s death devastated fans around the world, many of whom took home videos and photos of themselves and their children doing the “Wakanda forever” sign, a tribute to the actor and his role in Marvel’s “Black Panther.”
Brian Edward Kahrs, 57, caught the attention of Clearwater, Florida, residents this week when they spotted him sailing down the street in a mop bucket, propelled by nothing more than a leaf blower and an umbrella.
Kahrs, a Brooklyn native, called the mop-bucket mobile his “blue-collar limousine.”
“Nothing like taking a cruise along Clearwater Beach after a long night of mopping floors and scrubbing toilets,” the grandfather wrote this week on Facebook.
But it’s what Kahrs, a k a Chairman Platinum, has got going on under those coveralls that has gawkers doing a double-take.

There are a few things working against a potential Season 2 for Grand Army, Netflix's newly debuted teen drama.
Peiffer further alleged that Grand Army showrunner Katie Cappiello, who is white, "went full Karen and called Netflix hr on the Black writer in the room for getting a haircut," though Peiffer didn't mention Cappielo by name.
In a second tweet, Peiffer claimed that Netflix knew about the accusations, but simply hired more writers of color to replace them and didn't reach out until two years later to hear her and the other writers' original concerns.
Then again, controversy hasn't stopped Netflix in the past: its polarizing teen drama 13 Reasons Why ran for four seasons.
Given that Grand Army only just premiered, it's unsurprising that there hasn't been any news about Season 2.
