BTS’s previous Japanese album Face Yourself was released in mid-2018, and it, too was a success, though its numbers pale in comparison to Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~.

It’s no wonder that Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~ went straight to No. 1 on the country’s Oricon charts, as no other release was able to come even close to hitting that mark.

According to The Korea Times, BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~ sold 447,869 copies in its first 24 hours in Japan.

In fact, Map of the Soul: 7 ~ The Journey ~ starts off with nearly two and a half times as many copies sold in its first day of availability in Japan compared to their previous Japanese release.
