A Canadian military acrobatic jet crashed Sunday while preparing to take part in the service's flyovers in salute of first responders battling the coronavirus.
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds released a statement on Twitter confirming the crash and indicating that the status of the crew was not immediately available.
A later statement confirmed that one unidentified crew member had died and another had suffered serious injuries.
When appropriate, more information will be made available," the service's official account tweeted.
Earlier Sunday the Snowbirds indicated in tweets that inclement weather in British Columbia had caused a delay in the service's plans for a flyover.
